Artist Walter Anderson (1903-1965) believed that nature "needed" the artist to be fully "realized" and that nature was "only too glad" when an artist came to its assistance.

In the sense that the tree needs the blossom needs the fruit needs the bird to plant the seed for a new tree....Nature's winsomeness urges us to care for and protect what we perceive as valuable. Does the Creator 'need' our praise? No, but he needs us to praise, we need to praise, for our own good.
