Nice. Reminds me of a book by Madison author Jerry Apps called "Whispers and Shadows" in which the author celebrates the usually unseen, unheard treasures of nature, just as you have in this piece.

Thanks Scott. Yes, I was sad to hear that Jerry Apps recently passed away. -- Jeff

If one ignores the small things and jumps to the blur of the big picture, what do they "see"???

Often the experiences encountered that stimulate my creative or artistic senses come from the little things. Your words Jeff is, likewise, stimulating and inspire. Thanks for putting the attention on the little things, a great reminder.

Jeff, I have to say, your magical words always touch my soul! You express exactly what it is I feel when taking photos. Winter for me is magical!!! It is the little things that build the scene and story. Without the little things we would not have the glorious landscapes we want to capture. All of the little things give the image it's texture like woven fabric! Thank you for your beautiful images and prose...both so inspiring! Love to you and your family! 🎄Merry 🎁 Christmas!🎄 and

Happy 🎊 New🎊 Year!!!

I like your comments and the idea of seeing the details in nature. As a college instructor in the field for Northland College I was constantly challenging my students to see the details. Even in the big scenic view point people take the photo of the sweeping vista and leave, but to stand and see the fine points that create the scene is what gives really meaning and connection. I am always intrigued by the signs for viewpoint ahead (I see them in the Badlands along the road and think - yes I have a viewpoint - is this where I express it?
