A Question Whispered on the Wind

8

Have you ever been out on a trip to some place wild, remote and beautiful and wondered at some point “what if I didn’t go back? What if I just kept going, found a little spot out of the way and chucked it all for a life alone in the wild?”

This week’s essay on the “Little Dipper” will be about someone who did just that. Published this Wednesday, the story will look at the legends surrounding the hermit of Hermit Island.

But before it comes out, I have a question: could you do it? Could you live alone on the island pictured above for a full year seeing no one, talking with no one, just you and the lake and your own company? You’d have all you needed - a cabin, food, the basics — but it would be just you.

Tell me in the comments and then watch for “The Hermit in All of Us” this Wednesday on the “Little Dipper.”
