Have you ever been out on a trip to some place wild, remote and beautiful and wondered at some point “what if I didn’t go back? What if I just kept going, found a little spot out of the way and chucked it all for a life alone in the wild?” This week’s essay on the “Little Dipper” will be about someone who did just that. Published this Wednesday, the story will look at the legends surrounding the hermit of Hermit Island.
It sounds tempting but I know myself well enough that I would not do well alone. If my husband and love of my life were with me then YES but I would also want and need my furry companions too, which currently consists of a 14 yr old blind and very cuddly rescue dog named Wonder, a 2 yr old rescue Shepherd mix named Bengi, and a 4 yr old rescue cat named Jax.
This adventure would also require being able to talk to our 4 adult children and 5 beautiful granddaughter’s too because I need to know they are doing well and if they need anything 🥰
Ah, but would I be alone? Everywhere my eyes would wander is life, something that would speak to me with its beauty, natures songs would bring words of wisdom to my ears. There is much to learn when being alone.
That first paragraph was about me and Hawaii right? LOL! And to answer your question. No not alone! And to qualify the second answer...just with Roy, yes. But only knowing I would still get to see the kids after that and at this age 69 still have access to all the modern conveniences.
I’d like to try! A piece of r has always wanted to try it I & feel I could do it. My hesitation is the TV show Alone. They often break under the loneliness….

Fair enough.
I'd like to start doing retreats and work up to a year😁. How long have you gone?
That sounds wise.

Dealing with loneliness is a lost art. You might surprise yourself though.
